Seadog Sushi

Seadog Sushi is an amazing sushi restaurant in Chicago. I didn’t care much for sushi before I moved here 3.5 years ago, but now it’s one of my favorite meals! About every other weekend, my friends and I like to hit up a new sushi place to find a favorite. Seadog Sushi is definitely my new favorite. It’s BYOB, so we brought a bottle of red wine to wash down our sushi rolls. (BYOB Sushi options in Chicago are plentiful – I think more cities need to adopt this!)

Seadog Sushi is located in the Wicker Park neighborhood and although it’s more of a residential feel, shops and bars are within walking distance. Their menu is very extensive, so there’s a lot to choose from! It’s reasonably priced too, which is obviously a bonus. I wanted to highlight three of my favorite dishes from this delicious sushi restaurant:

sushi love‘The Lover’ is the name of this roll on the menu. Pretty fitting, right?! My friend and I had to try this roll because it didn’t sound like a traditional roll. It’s described as “A sweet-heart shaped maki filled with spicy smoked salmon, squash tempura, masago wrapped on top with fresh tuna.” I will definitely be getting the Lover again!

sushiAnother fun design! This one is the Pan Fried Scallop, accompanied by with basil, garlic soy, toasted shallot and a small jalapeno to top. We ordered this from the appetizer section because we were huge scallop fans, and Seadog Sushi does them right. It had the perfect amount of crunch and spiciness. The sauce was also tasty!

sushiLast, but not least we have the ‘Triples.’ We were drawn to this roll because of the mix of sweet potato and salmon. We were also curious about the spicy sauce on top! The menu’s description reads “Sweet potato tempura wrapped with fresh salmon and topped with toasted spicy dynamite sauce.” I’m not a huge fan of super spicy foods, but I loved it on this roll!
