I’m 26 years old and just found out how to make my own homemade pasta! Luckily for me, I had some great teachers and the right equipment to make the process pretty painless. It was a great Sunday Funday activity with a delicious reward.
The first step is to take 2 cups of flour, 1 egg and a dash of olive oil and mix it all together with your hands. This makes the fun of drinking wine difficult, but I enjoyed getting my hands dirty.
Once it’s all mixed together with just the right consistency (you may need to add water), roll the dough into a ball and place in saran wrap in a cold setting for 20 minutes.
It was harder than it looks – there isn’t supposed to be any sort of creases or cracks in the dough.
When the dough is ready, flatten it into four different sections to prepare it for the ‘pasta roller maker machine‘ is what I, the nonchef, likes to call it.
Imperia Pasta Machine
While one person is throwing all the pasta into the boiling water, the rest of us were working on the pasta sauce or sides – or sipping on their wine in my case. The pasta paired perfectly with a caprese salad and a light Italian salad.
Voila! The finished product. It was so worth the wait and all the hard work everyone at the dinner party put into it!
